Chef Hylton’s love for the culinary arts began where many great chefs discover their calling—at home. What started as helping hands in his parents’ kitchen evolved into a lifelong dedication to mastering the craft of cooking. After graduating high school, he honed his skills across various restaurants, laying a solid foundation for what would become a remarkable career.

In 2008, Chef Hylton made the pivotal decision to move to New York City, seeking new challenges and opportunities to expand his creative horizons. This bold step would prove to be transformative for his professional trajectory.

Rising Through Prestigious Institutions

Chef Hylton’s talent and dedication quickly earned him recognition in some of New York’s most iconic cultural institutions. In 2013, he joined Restaurant Associates at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where his innovative approach and culinary expertise flourished.

His career reached new heights in 2020 when he was promoted to Sous Chef and went on to open Genesis House, curated by Onjium—a project that showcased his ability to blend tradition with contemporary flair. His impressive career path continued as he ascended to Chef de Cuisine at the Guggenheim Museum, where he had the invaluable opportunity to train under renowned chef Alejandro Cortez.

Beyond the Knife and Pan

Throughout his distinguished career, Chef Hylton has demonstrated expertise that extends far beyond creating exquisite dishes. He has developed operational structures for back-of-house teams and supported various units, contributing his expertise to multiple restaurant openings and menu developments. Perhaps most interestingly, he maintains a deep appreciation for marine life and aquariums—a passion that reflects his attention to detail and appreciation for natural beauty.
